Download Free Ford TFI Adapter Harness Installation Instructions.pdf Ford TFI Adapter Harness part number 6000-8874 facilitates installation of Crane HI-6 and HI-6S ignition systems in late model Ford vehicles with TFI-IV ignition. The adapter directly plugs into the Ford wire harness and ignition coil and allows hookup of the HI-6 or HI-6S without having to cut and splice wires. Do not perform any work or disconnect any part of the ignition system without first disconnecting the battery ground cable. Do not come into contact with the coil primary wires or the secondary plug wires while the engine is running. Do not connect a timing light or other test equipment to any coil terminal while the engine is running. Never crank the engine with the coil high voltage terminal disconnected.

HI-6 INSTALLATION
  1. Refer to Figure 1. Locate the Ford TFI coil and unplug the Ford harness from the coil.
  2. Install the adapter plug with orange and black wires into the coil.
  3. Connect the adapter plug with red and white wires to the Ford wire harness plug that was originally connected to the coil.
  4. Connect the HI-6 wires to the adapter harness as shown in Figure 1. Use ¼” male and female quick disconnects.
  5. Connect the HI-6 battery, ground, cylinder select, and stage limit and retard (if used) wires as explained in the HI-6 installation instructions.Tape up the magnetic trigger harness and green tach wire. Make sure the leads in the magnetic trigger harness cannot short to each other.
  6. If your vehicle has a four cylinder engine, the tach may not work unless you install tach adapter part number 6000-8910. Follow the instructions that come with the tach adapter.
